Association of Independent Jewish Camps
We are a community of Jewish Summer camps that challenges and nurtures fun, growth, and individual and community-based summer experiences.

JCYS - Camp Henry Horner

NSDC is the perfect size – just large enough to offer great camp opportunities you may not find elsewhere, but small enough where everyone knows and cares about your child. And we choose counselors and specialists who are energetic, excited, and enthusiastic about being with children and helping them achieve their best summer experience (nearly all of whom were NSDC campers themselves!). Our camp culture is filled with spirit and silliness, where everyone cheers each other on and children feel comfortable to take risks, challenge themselves, and try new things. NSDC activities include: Red Cross swim lessons, a wide array of sports and games, field trips, dance, camp crafts, Camper’s Choice and so many more!

Our all-camp activities are full of laughter and fun, from Blue and White games to the Olympics. NSDC’s more intimate size ensures all campers feel like family, from the veteran Trailblazers to our new Pioneers.

Whether you need a 9:00-3:00 day or the longer 7:30-6:30, our 8, 6, 4, or 1 week sessions fit every summer schedule. Choose from our two program options: North Shore Day Camp and NSDC Sports for a tailor-made summer that will have your kids wishing that camp was all year long!

JCYS - Camp Henry Horner

Located on 180 wooded acres with a sandy beach front on Wooster Lake, Camp Henry Horner offers a north woods experience in Illinois. Along with beach and lake activities, campers enjoy a high-ropes course and zip line, heated swimming pool, sports, arts & crafts, campfires – and friendships that last a lifetime. Teen campers not only enjoy our vast campgrounds, but experience weekly adventures that take them to places such as the Wisconsin State Fair, Great America, Action territory, laser tag, and more!

We are thrilled to announce new and exciting additions to Camp Henry Horner. Beginning this year, we are an official training center for the Starfish Aquatic Institute. Campers enjoy swimming in our heated pool, as well as lake time where we have inflatables, slides, kayaks and canoes, and beach time.

Not only have we upgraded our swim lesson offerings but we have also increased our focus on the wonderful, natural environment at camp. This summer we will be launching our Outdoor Skills Lab (OSL). Each week, campers will participate in a variety of outdoor adventures including:

• Outdoor Cooking.
• Outdoor Living skills such as fire building, shelter building, knot tying, outdoor safety/first aid and orienteering.
• Archery (3rd grade and up) at our newly built range.
• Environmental Education activities including tree identification, animal habitat studies, aquatic creatures, environmental stewardship, and Native American studies.

On top of these fun and educational activities campers will continue to participate in a variety of offerings at our High Sierra Adventure Center including team building, high ropes course, climbing wall and zipline.
